## What TraceIt is

TraceIt is a privacy-first personal-safety and finder app for iOS. Hidden Bluetooth trackers are cheap, tiny and easy to slip into a bag, a coat lining or a car. TraceIt continuously scans the Bluetooth devices around you, identifies the ones that aren't yours, and helps you decide whether something is quietly traveling with you. The same radar that catches unwanted trackers also helps you find everyday Bluetooth gear you have misplaced.

## Primary capability: detecting unknown trackers (anti-stalking)

This is the core of TraceIt.

- **Scans for nearby trackers.** TraceIt looks for Bluetooth trackers in your vicinity and lists them, nearest first.
- **Flags the suspicious ones.** Devices that don't belong to you and keep reappearing as you move are marked as suspicious or unknown, so you can tell a stranger's tracker apart from your own.
- **Identifies the brand and signal.** For each detected tracker, TraceIt shows the likely brand and a live signal-strength reading.
- **Supported tracker types.** AirTag and AirTag-style devices, Samsung SmartTag, Samsung SmartTag2, Tile, Chipolo, and other Bluetooth trackers.
- **Pinpoints the tracker.** A proximity finder gets warmer as you get closer and colder as you move away, with haptic feedback and sound to guide you the final meter, whether the tracker is under a seat, inside a lining, or in a pocket.
- **Explains what you found.** Built-in "Learn about [brand]" explainers help you understand the tracker you have located and what to do next.
- **Save your own devices.** Tag the trackers and devices you own so TraceIt never confuses them for a threat again.

### Why it matters

Unwanted tracking is a real personal-safety problem. TraceIt gives non-technical people a simple way to answer "is something following me?" and, if so, to find and remove it themselves.

## Secondary capability: finding your own devices

TraceIt is also a general Bluetooth finder.

- **Works with any Bluetooth device.** AirPods, headphones, speakers, portable trackers, or anything broadcasting Bluetooth.
- **Ranked by proximity.** Nearby devices are listed strongest-signal first, so you know what is closest.
- **The same warm/cold finder.** Pick a device and follow the radar as it heats up, with haptics and sound for the last few meters, down the sofa, in another room, in the car, or in a bag.

## How it works

1. **Scan.** Open TraceIt and tap Scan. Every nearby Bluetooth device appears, nearest first, with the ones that aren't yours marked.
2. **Lock on.** Pick a device or a suspicious tracker. The radar turns warm as you approach and cold as you move away, and you also see the brand and current signal strength.
3. **Find it.** Follow the haptics and sound straight to the exact spot, even when the device is out of sight.

- Scanning happens entirely on the device.
